Overview
I am a first year graduate student working with Dr. Shami Chatterjee and Dr. Jim Cordes on a variety of pulsar-related projects, including millisecond pulsar timing, probing the integrated density of the solar wind using the scattering of pulses, and characterizing the temporal and spatial variations of the interstellar medium with pulsar timing array data. I have been a member of the North American Nanohertz Observatory for Gravitational Waves (NANOGrav) since 2022, during which time I contributed to our 15-year data release (ApJ Letters; special focus issue) through my work with the Noise Budget Working Group and led a multi-frequency observing campaign (LOFAR, Effelsberg 100-m Radio Telescope) to assess the scintillation and scattering-related noise in PSR J1744-1134.
am also passionate about public education and outreach, and strive to incorporate both clarity and nuance into my science communication and teaching. Through the Pulsar Science Collaboratory, an outreach program affiliated with NANOGrav, I lead a team of high school, undergraduate, and graduate students that does long-term monitoring and timing of the Crab pulsar using the 20-m radio telescope at the Green Bank Observatory, and we always welcome new students!
I received my B.Sc. in Physics and Astronomy from Haverford College in 2024, and spent the following year working at Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics in Taiwan, where I worked with Dr. Ue-Li Pen and Dr. Daniel Baker to characterize a double-lensing-induced extreme scattering event in PSR B0834+06 and helped organize and give talks at Astronomy on Tap Taipei events. I am also an avid trail runner and backpacker, and love spending my weekends beyond the reaches of cell service!
