Overview
Laura completed her PhD at University College Dublin, Ireland, under the supervision of Dr. Antonio Martin-Carrillo. Her research focuses on the violent deaths of massive stars, with particular emphasis on gamma-ray bursts, fast X-ray transients, and broad-lined Type Ic supernovae. She has been actively involved in the rapid follow-up of transient events detected by observatories around the world, including the space-based Swift and Einstein Probe missions. Her primary scientific interest lies in the rare connection between gamma-ray bursts and broad-lined Type Ic supernovae, providing insights into some of the most energetic explosions in the Universe. Laura also played a key role in the testing, launch, and operation of Ireland's first satellite, EIRSAT-1. The mission's primary scientific instrument was a gamma-ray detector designed to detect GRBs, successfully observing over 12 gamma-ray bursts during its 21-month operational lifetime.
