Overview

Amy K. Wernimont, PhD, is Associate Director of Research Administration for the Cornell Center for Astrophysics and Planetary Science and the Department of Astronomy. She leads strategic research development and supports faculty and interdisciplinary teams in building ambitious research programs, securing external funding, and managing complex sponsored research. Dr. Wernimont brings more than two decades of experience at the intersection of science, research strategy, organizational leadership, and program development, including nine years at the National Institutes of Health, where she served as Chief of Staff in the Center for Scientific Review. Previously, she held scientific and program leadership roles at the Structural Genomics Consortium, where she managed large, internationally collaborative research programs spanning academia, government, and industry. She holds a PhD in Biochemistry from Northwestern University.
