Finance and Human Resource Manager
Serves as principal accountant for two organizations – Cornell Center for Astrophysics and Planetary Science, and Astronomy. Acts as primary contact between center/departmental faculty, and staff and the business service center. Provide comprehensive financial/administrative services in procurement, financial accounting, and reporting. Responsible for post-award budget management. Works closely with University accounting office and center/department to resolve complex problems and to determine best processes for payments, etc. Collaborate with center/departmental faculty and staff to develop business knowledge of each that will assure appropriate judgment in accomplishing administrative activities. Review monthly transaction statements and prepare various financial status reports. Ensure appropriate handling and back-up documentation for all transactions. Resolve complex problems with transactions. Approve new accounts, journal vouchers, requisitions, and process effort certification forms. Serve as human resource manager for the center and department. Responsible for departmental and center searches, leave accruals, appointment renewals, and all human resource communications. Serves as liason with the International Students and Scholars Office regarding foreign nathonals. Consults and assists foreign visitors, new staff, and students with all aspects of the visa process.
