Overview
I am a first-year graduate student working with Dr. Jim Cordes and Dr. Shami Chatterjee to study pulsars and fast radio bursts (FRBs), particularly how these phenomena can be used as physical probes.
I grew up in Alabama and graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.S. in Astronomy-Physics in 2024. At UVA, I worked with Dr. Craig Sarazin to probe clusters of galaxies in the X-ray band and then Dr. Scott Ransom to develop a 34-year timing solution to a redback spider pulsar system - that is, a pulsar whose wind rips apart its companion. During my undergraduate, I also participated in two summer research programs, one at Northern Arizona University with Dr. Gerrick Lindberg examining the behavior of organic molecules in simulations mimicking those of Titan’s lakes and one at the University of Wyoming with Dr. Daniel Dale and Dr. Chip Kobulnicky determining the properties of stars powering stellar bowshocks. In 2025, I completed a Fulbright Postgraduate Fellowship in Australia, working with Dr. Jeff Cooke at Swinburne University of Technology to search for FRBs and any simultaneous counterpart bursts in other wavelengths.
When I am not operating telescopes or writing Python scripts, I am probably getting into trouble hiking, skiing, rock climbing, scuba diving, jumping out of a plane, or doing any number of other outdoor activities. I will also play any sport under the sun and I enjoy social dancing and photography.
