Trip to Baikal, Listvyanka

We went to Listvyanka with Richard and Martin and took the "dog's trail" to the direction of the Bol'shie Koti.
Later we went to the Olkhon island and wen to Listvyanka once again.

Listvyanka is a small village which is spread along the cost of the lake. It takes about an hour
by bus or van-taxi from Irkutsk train/bus station.  We took a trail along the coast of the lake.

First, it went along the shore. It was a bit too cold to swim. Martin demonstrates the level
of recommended swimming.

The weathe was nice and trail looked exciting. Some more people went to this direction, but
suddenly all people disappeared, they went up somewhere.

We enjoyed the trail and marvelous views of the lake.

Water down below has been green and transparent.

Little flowers were blooming here and there.

Lake looked nice through  a furry pine-trees.

More views.

Richard enjoys the trail.

A wild lily.

Suddenly, we realized that the banks are very steep ...

And our trail is barely visible part of this steep bank. I realized that we are on the "dog's trail"
which is not recommended, specifically in wet weather.

Martin has been moving fast ahead of us. He commented, that he does not like rock climbing
and this is why he moves fast.

Richard decided that we should find another trail higher above and we found it very soon.
The lake become father away, and views become different.

There are very few boats on the lake.

Some flowers (?)

Green branches on the background of the green water. I used zoom from the far trail.

More branches.

Happy me.

Upper trail looks much more reasonable.

This higher trail is much more reasonable.

Bells.

The horizon often showed that the Earth is round.

More of the horizon.

A lot of fresh water - about 1/7 part of all fresh-water resources of the Earth. Baikal has more
water than all Great Lakes combined.

We encountered a small observatory on the way back.

Back to Listvyanka. More people arrived to the lake from Irkutsk to enjoy a good day.

Richard and Martin in Listvyanka. Typical Russian village house
is behind them.
