A criminal is sentenced to death. Before his execution, he is
allowed to make a statement. If his statement is false, he will be hanged, and
if it is true, he will be drowned. What should he say to confuse the jury and
save his life?
He must say, “I will be hanged.” He cannot be hanged because his statement would
then be true, and he cannot be drowned because his statement would then be false.
A doctor has a brother who is an attorney in Alabama, but the attorney in Alabama
does not have a brother who is a doctor. How can this be?
The doctor is a woman.
